For my Interactive Digital Narratives class, I made a roguelike game about the legend of Sisyphus’s endless punishment of pushing a boulder up the hill – now spiced up with the inclusions of the Greek Gods showing up and having fun with him. To represent the endless toil and the unknown height of the mountain, I encoded the normal information in such the game all into the progress tracker at the top of the screen for players to interpret on their own. The game was made in Twine, and used AI to generate the background soundtrack. This was my first experience making a game at this scale, and it was both more fun and more tedious than I initially expected.
